Excellent, family-friendly camp site (no caravans) in beautiful countryside. Loads of play space for traditional family time, with play equipment and play houses for younger children. Spotless shower & WC block, free use of fridges and very helpful owners. Lots to see and do nearby - in short, brilliant!

We simply love this site. It is so peaceful and relaxing. We've been twice, on the first May bank holiday this year and last. Our three children (aged 2,4 and 6 yrs) think it's wonderful.
The pitches are huge and would accommodate any size tent easily and still feel spacious. Loads of room for car, tent, tables, chairs and toys. No fires allowed but off the ground BBQ's are so we sat round the BBQ in the evening - it was chilly!
We didn't mind the basic facilities - there are spotless loos, sinks, showers and plenty of piping hot water.
Layout of this site is perfect with a large field, tents around the outside, grass play area in the middle and smaller children's play area opposite the tents so you can keep an eye on them playing whilst sitting in comfort! There are 2 play houses which the children practically lived in.
There is a lovely feeling about Greenacres - I think that's down to the lovely owners. Once you have paid for your pitch, that's it; free showers, free fridge and freezer space, books to borrow and loads of information about local places to visit.
It's fab. I'd recommend it to anyone especially if you have young children.

This was our first camping expedition since having children and was a great success. The owners of Greenacres are welcoming, friendly and helpful. The pitches are very generous and we loved the fact that they are all located around the edge of the site leaving the middle free for children to play safely. Although some of the play equipment had seen better days, the children all congregated there and could be easily seen from all pitches.
The facilities are basic but spotlessly clean. The showers were always hot and if you had to queue it wasn't for long.
The site is peaceful with a sky full of stars at night. During our stay Brown Cow Organics had just started a daily delivery of bacon, yogurt etc. Which was fantastic. There were fridges and freezers which were free to use and we always found space for basic supplies.
Our 3 children (4,6 and 7) loved our stay here. They talk about it more than any of our overseas holidays. There was plenty to see and do nearby. We had a trip to Dunster which was a bit further away but well worth it, it's beautiful.
If you are looking for lots of facilities then this wouldn't be the place for you, but we enjoyed a wonderful week of dawn 'til dusk fresh air, peace, tranquillity and relaxation. Perfect!

Just returned from a fortnight at this site. It's beautiful - lovely views, really relaxing. Owners are incredibly friendly and really knowledgeable about the local area. The facilities are very very basic, but are incredibly clean. There were 4 ladies loos, along with 2 sinks (not sure what the mens facilities were like). Showers were very basic, and it's difficult to control water temperature. There are only 2 sinks for washing up, so was glad that we were there when it was very quiet. There are fridges and a freezer, along with books and games to borrow. Loads of space in middle of field for playing volleyball /football / cricket. The pitches are flat and large. You can hire bikes (although we were too lazy) at £1.50 per hour or £6.50 for the whole day which we thought was great value for money.
There is lots to explore in the local area, glastonbury, wookey hole, cheddar gorge, shepton mallet and wells. It's about a hours drive to the coast at Burnham. Also easy to get to Bristol and Bath from here.
As it's pretty remote, there is no light pollution, so watching the stars at night was fab. Fires are not allowed, however, you can have BBQ, and bricks are provided on site.
We found a great pub about 2.5 miles away (the Pound Inn at Coxley) which has a great carvery. Also great fish and chip shop in Wells (opposite Tescos) called Tuckers, and they do the best fish and chips I've ever tasted there! The local store in Pilton was closing down, so the nearest place to get supplies would be Tesco in Wells.
Perfect location, great campsite and loads to do nearby, I totally recommend this!
